Track And Field Compete At Reebok Boston Games

BOSTON, Mass. - Track and field headed down the road to the Reggie Lewis Center to compete in the Reebok Boston games held at Northeastern University yesterday. The women would place first among 13 schools while the men would finish sixth competing against the same number.

The lady Eagles would collect five wins, including a first place finish in the women's distance medley. Freshmen Caitlin Bailey, Gretchen Andrus and Jessica Driscoll, and senior Kristen Coon would all earn wins for BC in their respective events. In addition to winning the 400 meter dash, Bailey would also finish four of 49 in the 200 meter.

Also earning top-five finishes for the women were freshmen Ariel Hazzard, Samantha Gawrych, Christine Sullivan, as well as juniors Jennifer Heyde, Mary Heitkamp, and seniors Jessica Flinn and Julie Regan. 15 Eagles would earn top-five finishes by days end.

On the men's side, the Eagles earned eight top-five finishes, which included placing second in the men's distance medley and third in the 4x400 meter relay.

Sophomore Timothy Ritchie would place third out of 45 in the 800 meter run and sophomore Patrick Viklund would finish second overall in the 55 meter hurdles.

The Eagles would place sixth as a team as Connecicut, Northeasten, New Hampshire, UMass-Amherst, and Stonehill would round out the top-five.

 

 

The men and women will next compete on Friday, February 2 at the Giegengack Invitational in New Haven, Conn.
