Boston College junior forward Nathan Gerbe has earned Hockey East Player of the Week honors, according to a league announcement made on Monday.
Gerbe registered a career-high four goals and five points in leading Boston College to a 7-2 non-conference win at Harvard (Dec. 12). The junior left wing scored three times on the power play and once in an even-strength situation.
Gerbe has registered 12 points -- eight goals and four assists -- in BC's last three victories and now ranks second in the country (behind Michigan's Kevin Porter) with 21 points -- 13 goals and eight assists -- in points per game (1.50). He also ranks among the nation's top 10 in goals per game (third; 0.93), power-play goals (tied for sixth; 6) and shorthanded goals (tied for first; 3).
Boston College, which is ranked No. 14 according to both major national polls released on Monday, returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 29 against Air Force in Minneapolis, Minn., in the Dodge Holiday Classic.
