When did you begin playing ice hockey?
When I was five years old.

What was your most memorable achievement?
Graduating from Phillips Academy and being accepted to Boston College.

Do you have a favorite team that you have played on?
It's too hard to decide. I've been fortunate enough to be a part of two National Championship teams [in 2010 and 2012 at BC], so I'll probably have to go with those two.

What is your favorite thing to do when you have time off?
I love spending time with my family. I love fly fishing with my dad and hiking with my mom.

Do you have any pets?
A cat named Lucky and a dog named Stella. My youngest sister also just got a hamster and named it Oreo.

What would you be doing if you weren't playing hockey?
I would be a skier.

Who is your favorite athlete? Why?
Another tough decision. I grew up idolizing Joe Sakic as the captain of the Colorado Avalanche. I've also become a huge fan of Robert Griffin III because of how he conducts himself off the field. It's refreshing to see someone that good remain so humble in the spotlight.

What motivates you in life?
Waking up a better person than I was the day before. Being a better student, being a better athlete, being a better friend and teammate. I always liked what Andre Agassi said in his autobiography, Open; he tried to live his life for the last 10 minutes before he fell asleep because if you live a clean life your conscious won't keep you up at night.

What are your favorite sports besides hockey?
Golf, lacrosse and skiing.

Who are your idols?
My parents and my sister Charlee.

Do you have a favorite city in the world?
My hometown, Boulder, Colo.

What is your favorite quote?
It's more of a poem: Ralph Waldo Emmerson's poem "Success."

Describe your perfect day.
A summer day back home where I would wake up to my mom's cooking. I would golf 18 holes before noon then go swimming. I'd skate at night with friends and either go out or come home to watch Seinfeld.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?
I listen to Tomorrowland at the same time before every game and I put my left sock, shin pad, skate and elbow guard on before the right side.

What do you do on road trips/plane rides?
I read and try to get my homework done so I'm not overwhelmed when I get back.

What is the most played song on your iPod?
Best Day Ever by Mac Miller.

What is your favorite kind of pizza?
Two slice of cheese with Cholula sauce on top from Abos in Boulder.

What is your pet peeve?
Slow walkers

What is the best piece of advice you've been given?
My high school coach told me that the good times are never really as good as they seem and the bad times are never really as bad as they seem. He told me to always keep a level head and keep things in perspective.

What is your favorite rink to play at?
Conte Forum in front of a sold-out crowd
