Boston College sophomore Bill Arnold has earned Hockey East Association Co-Player of the Week honors after scoring three times in consecutive victories over Massachusetts (Oct. 21) and Northeastern (Oct. 22) over the weekend.
A 6-foot, 210-pound forward, Arnold scored twice - the first multiple-goal performance of his career - in a 4-2 home win over the Minutemen then notched the overtime game-winning goal in the team's 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the Huskies in Matthews Arena the next night. The Needham, Mass., native, redirected a Patch Alber shot on goal past Northeastern goaltender Chris Rawlings with one minute remaining in the five-minute sudden-victory period to lift top-ranked BC to the league victory.
Arnold shared the honor with Vermont's Sebastian Stålberg who scored twice in the Catamounts 5-4 win at Minnesota on Sunday, Oct. 23.
Through the team's first six games of 2011-12, Arnold leads Boston College in points (10), goals (five), assists (five), game-winning goals (two) and shot percentage (33.3 percent). He ranks second on the team in the plus-minus category (+7).
