2013-14 Men's Hockey Schedule Announced

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Fourteen non-conference games, including two tournaments - the Three Rivers Classic and the 62nd annual Beanpot - a match-up against Notre Dame at Fenway Park as well as nine dates against participants from last winter's NCAA Championship and a 20-game Hockey East Association slate, represent the 2013-14 Boston College men's hockey schedule.
The Eagles will play four (of six) Big 10 Conference opponents in 2013-14, including the season-opening game on Thursday, Oct. 10 at Michigan at 7:35 p.m. and a two-game series at Minnesota (Oct. 25 and 27).
BC will host Rensselaer on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. in the Conte Forum/Kelley Rink season opener and will host Wisconsin on Friday, Oct. 18. That night, Boston College will pay tribute to its head coach Jerry York, who surpassed Ron Mason to become the winningest coach in the history of college hockey last season.
Following a trip to Minneapolis, Minn., for a two-game series against the Gophers in Mariucci Arena, the Eagles will host Northeastern in their conference opener on Friday, Nov. 1.
November's nine-game slate also features a two-game, home-and-home series against Massachusetts (Nov. 14 and 15), road match-ups at Boston University (Nov. 8) and Harvard (Nov. 20) and includes home dates with Army (Nov. 10) and Holy Cross (Nov. 29).
The Eagles will travel to Pittsburgh, Pa., to face Bowling Green in the opening round of the Three Rivers Classic at the Consul Energy Center and with either face Robert Morris or Penn State the next day.
Boston College will play Notre Dame for the first time as conference opponents at Fenway Park on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014. Game time is 7:30 p.m. and it will be broadcast by the New England Sports Network. January's schedule also features a trip to State College, Pa., to face Penn State (Jan. 25) at Pegula Ice Arena.
Boston College and BU will meet in the first round of the Beanpot on Monday, Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. with the consolation and championship games of the four-team tournament scheduled for 4:30 and 7:30 on Monday, Feb. 10.
BC and BU are scheduled to square off three times in 2013-14 - Nov. 8, Jan. 17 and Feb. 3.
All 11 teams qualify for Hockey East Tournament postseason play, with the top five teams earning opening-round byes. The opening round, single-elimination play for seed Nos. 6-11 will take place at campus sites on either Friday, March 7 or Saturday, March 8. The best-of-three game, quarterfinal-round series will be held at campus sites from Friday, March 14 to Sunday, March 16, while the semifinals and championship are set for Friday and Saturday, March 21 and 22 at TD Garden.
The NCAA Tournament will begin with regional play from Friday, March 29 through Sunday, March 31. The NCAA "Frozen Four" is set for Thursday, April 10 and Saturday, April 12 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pa.
