Boston College sophomore defenseman Philip Samuelsson will forgo his junior and senior seasons at Boston College to pursue a professional career in the Pittsburgh Penguins organization.
The 6-foot-2, 198-pound Samuelsson played in all 39 games in 2010-11. He recorded 14 points - four goals and 10 assists - and a plus-minus rating of +17.
Samuelsson played in 81 games in his two seasons at Boston College. He tallied 30 points - five goals and 25 assists.
He was selected by the Penguins in the second round (61st overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Boston College finished the 2010-11 season with a 30-8-1 record. The Eagles captured the Beanpot title, the Hockey East regular-season crown and the Lamoriello Trophy as the league's tournament champions.
