Hockey To Face Union Saturday In Providence In NCAA First Round

Boston College men's hockey has earned at at-large bid to the 2013 NCAA Tournament and will play Union College on Saturday, March 30 at 9 p.m. at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, R.I.
Saturday's game, which will mark the first meeting between the teams in program history, will be broadcast live on ESNPU in high definition and will also be video streamed online and available on the WatchESPN platforms.
Canisius (19-18-5) and Quinnipiac (27-7-5), the tournament's No. 1 overall seed, will precede the Eagles match-up with the Dutchmen in Saturday's first regional semifinal at 5:30 p.m.
The Eagles are making their 32nd NCAA Tournament appearance overall, including their 14th (in the last 16 seasons) under head coach Jerry York.
Boston College is 45-38 in the national tournament, including a 32-9 mark under the direction of York, who has led his teams to 20 NCAA Tournament berths - six at Bowling Green and 14 at Boston College - and is 37-19-1 all-time. His 37 wins are the highest total in NCAA Division 1 history.
BC returns to the Dunkin Donuts Center for the first time since the 2003 national tournament. The Eagles have a 5-5-0 record in the Dunkin' Donuts Center (formerly the Providence Civic Center), including a 3-3 record in NCAA Tournament play.
The Eagles enter the 2012 NCAA Tournament with a 22-11-4 record.
