Boston College junior Parker Milner has earned Hockey East Goaltender of the Month honors and forward Johnny Gaudreau has earned Hockey East Rookie of the Month recognition, according to a league announcement made on Tuesday.
Milner went 7-0 with a 0.98 goals against average and a .962 save percentage during the month of February. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native registered two shutouts, held opponents to one goal or fewer five times and held all February opponents to two goals or fewer.
Milner is 19-5-0 as a starting goaltender in 2011-12. He has a 1.98 goals against average and a .921 save percentage. In 46 career starts during his three collegiate seasons, he is 32-9-1 with a 2.18 GAA and a .914 save percentage.
Gaudreau, a 5-foot-8, 150-pound forward, tallied 13 points on seven goals and six assists and a +11 rating in seven February games. A native of Carneys Point, N.J., Gaudreau registered team highs in points, goals and plus-minus. He tallied four multiple-point performances, including two three-point efforts, and recorded at least one point in each game this month.
Gaudreau captured Beanpot MVP accolades after he tallied four points - two goals and two assists - in two Beanpot victories.
Gaudreau, Milner and BC are winners of nine straight games during which the team is averaging 4.3 goals per game and 1.3 goals against per game. BC has scored at least one power-play goal in each victory and has scored five shorthanded goals during this stretch.
Boston College (23-10-1, 17-7-1 Hockey East) is atop the Hockey East standings and has claimed the No. 1 ranking in both national polls released on Monday.
Next the Eagles will host Vermont twice - on Friday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 3 at 7 p.m. - to conclude the 2011-12 regular season. Both games are to be televised by the CBS Sports
