Feb. 11, 2008
Boston College junior Nathan Gerbe has earned a share of Hockey East Player of the Week honors with New Hampshire's Mike Radja, according to a league announcement made on Monday.
Gerbe recorded six points - three goals and three assists - in leading Boston College to victories over Boston University (2/4) and Massachusetts (2/8).
The Oxford, Mich., resident scored twice, including the overtime gamewinner, in the team's 4-3 win over the Terriers in the first round of the Beanpot last Monday. He assisted on each of BC's first three goals and added an empty-net score in a 4-1 win at UMass on Friday.
The honor marks his fourth Hockey East weekly accolade. Gerbe previously captured Hockey East Player of the Week honors on Dec. 3, Dec. 17 and Jan. 14.
He has registered 43 points - 22 goals and 21 assists - in 26 games and ranks first in the country in points per game (1.65) and second nationally in goals per game (0.86).
Boston College, which is ranked No. 7 according to both major national polls released on Monday, faces off against Harvard in the Beanpot championship game at 8 p.m. in Boston's TD Banknorth Garden.
