Boston College junior forward Nathan Gerbe has earned Hockey East Player of the Month honors, according to a league announcement made on Friday.
The honor marks the second (consecutive) league monthly award for Gerbe. The Oxford, Mich., resident captured Hockey East as well as Commissioners' Association National Division I Player of the Month honors for December.
Gerbe registered a team-high nine points -- four goals and five assists -- and a plus/minus rating of +4 in seven January games, leading the Eagles to a 4-1-2 record in the month. He tallied at least one point in five (of seven) games, including three multiple-point performances.
He has played in 23 games this season and has registered a team-high 37 points -- 19 goals and 18 assists. Gerbe leads all college hockey players in points per game (1.61) and ranks second nationally in goals per game (0.83).
Boston College, which is ranked No. 9 in the country according to both major national polls, hosts conference opponent Providence on Friday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m.
