Boston College senior forward Steven Whitney has earned a share of Hockey East Association Player of the Week honors with UMass forward Braden Gracel, according to league announcement made on Monday.

Whitney combined to score four times and record five points in stellar efforts against Massachusetts and Northeastern over the weekend. A product of Reading, Mass., Whitney scored once in a 5-2 home loss to Massachusetts on Friday, then tallied four points - including his first career hat trick - in the team's 9-3 win at Northeastern the next night.

Whitney leads the team with 14 goals in 21 games in 2012-13. He has recorded 26 points this season and has 109 points - 43 goals and 66 assists - in 143 career games.

Boston College checks in at No. 3 in both major polls - USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine - released on Monday. The Eagles return to action on Friday, Jan. 25, when it hosts league-opponent Maine in the first of a two-game home series against the Black Bears. BC and Maine will conclude the series on Saturday night. Both games are set to faceoff at 7 p.m.
