Jan. 9, 1998 Eagles Knock Off No. 1 Boston UniversityCHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Sophomore defenseman Mike Mottau scored one goal and added two assists to lead Boston College to a 4-2 come-from-behind win over top-ranked Boston University before a sold-out crowd of 7,884 at BC's Kelley Rink. After the Eagles battled back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game after two periods, sophomore forward Blake Bellefeuille tallied a power-play goal at 17:46 of the final stanza to put Boston College on top, 3-2. Junior forward Nick Pierandri added an empty-net goal at 19:52 to seal the victory. Boston University (12-3-2, 5-2-2 HOCKEY EAST) jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the game's opening minutes. Freshman forward Juha Vuori started the scoring at 2:49, and freshman Keith Emery added to the Terriers' lead and concluded the first-period scoring with a goal at 3:26. Boston College's Brian Gionta cut the deficit in half with a four-on-four goal at 9:28 of the middle period. Mottau took a Marty Reasoner feed and evened the score at 2-2 at 14:16, setting the stage for the Eagles' third-period heroics. Boston College freshman goalie Scott Clemmensen finished with 19 saves. Boston University goalie Michel Larocque made 25 stops. Post Game Notes... The Eagles snapped an 0-3-2 skid... It was the Eagles' first win over BU since March 2, 1996...
