Eagle Hockey Drops UMass-Lowell, 4-3
Gionta nabs pair of goals including gamewinner
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Freshman forward Brian Gionta scored two goals, including the game-winner at 11:59 of the final period, to lead Boston College to a 4-3 HOCKEY EAST victory over UMass-Lowell before 4,353 fans in Kelley Rink.
Gionta's decisive tally lifted the Eagles after the visiting River Hawks (9-11-3) rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game after two periods.

UMass-Lowell battled back in the middle period. Greg Koehler put the River Hawks on the board at 7:31 and Doug Nolan brought the visitors within striking distance with a goal at 16:36. Sean Storozuk evened the score at 18:39, seconds after the Eagles had thwarted a UML power play.
Boston College outshot UMass-Lowell, 16-7, in the final 20 minutes, but had to wait for Giontas team-leading third game-winning goal to gain the victory.
