Boston College Routs St. Lawrence, 6-0
Sophomore defenseman Mike Mottau had a career-high four points (2 goals, 2 assists) and junior captain Marty Reasoner registered two power-play goals and one assist to lead Boston College, ranked #8 in the nation, to a 6-0 non-league win over St. Lawrence before 3,364 at Kelley Rink.
Boston College freshman goaltender Scott Clemmensen made 16 saves to record his first collegiate shutout.
Mottau scored the only goal of the first period at 2:53. Reasoner tallied his 13th and 14th goals of the season in the second period -- both on the power play -- to give BC a 3-0 cushion after two periods.
Senior captain Jamie O'Leary, Mottau, and freshman forward Brian Gionta (1g, 2a) added third-period goals for the victors. Gionta has now scored in 10 consecutive games.
Boston College, which has a 7-0-2 record in its last nine meetings against the Saints, converted 2-of-6 power-play opportunities, while holding St. Lawrence scoreless on eight man-up opportunities.
The victory raises Boston College's record to 11-3-0, the best start to a season since 1983-84. St. Lawrence drops to 3-6-1.
Post-Game Notes: It was the second shutout of the season for the Eagles (Oct. 11 vs. Ottawa, 10-0)...The last time BC had two shutouts in a season was 1985-86 (three)... Reasoner reached the 50 goal mark for his career, just the 37th player in BC history to do so...Reasoner has five multiple-goal games this season and 13 in his career (83 games)... Reasoner has scored a goal in eight of his last nine games... The Eagles are 7-1 when a player scores multiple goals in a game... Gionta has scored 15 points (7 g, 8a) in his 10-game scoring streak... The Eagles are 3-0-1 in the four meetings with the Saints at Kelley Rink... The Eagles are 3-0 against ECAC teams this season...
