CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior forward Bill Arnold scored two goals and classmate Kevin Hayes tallied three assists to lead top-ranked Boston College to a 5-2 Hockey East victory over ninth-ranked Boston University before a sellout crowd of 7,884 fans at Kelley Rink.

The win marked career victory No. 924 for Boston College head coach Jerry York, who has tied Ron Mason as college hockey's all-time wins leaders. York is 924-558-94 in 41 seasons as a head coach at Clarkson, Bowling Green and Boston College. Mason captured 924 victories inh is career at Lake Superior state, Bowling Green and Michigan State.

Each team scored once in the first period. Then BC scored four consecutive goals, including three power-play tallies in the second frame, before BU concluded the scoring late in the third period.

Arnold broke a 1-1 tie with his first (of two) power-play goals in the game at 1:59. Freshman defenseman Michael Matheson put the Eagles up by two scores - at 3-1, in a 5-on-3 man-advantage situation - with a one-timer from the slot at 15:48 of the middle frame. Arnold widened the lead to 4-1 at 16:38 scoring off a rebound on the power play for the second time in the period.

Both teams scored in the third period. BC freshman forward Brendan Silk recorded his first collegiate goal - and point - with the Eagles' final goal at 4:16. BU's Evan Rodrigues netted the final goal at 13:02.

Boston College went 4-8 on the power play, netting four man-advantage goals for the first time since November 2010 against Clarkson. Boston University finished the night 2-for-6 on the power play.

BC goaltender Parker Milner recorded 21 saves to improve to 11-2-0.

BU freshman goalie Matt O'Connor stopped 31 shots in the defeat. He falls to 6-3-0.

Freshman defenseman Teddy Doherty opened up the scoring with a goal at 10:40 of the first period, receiving a pass from Hayes in front of the crease and sneaking it past the goaltender to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. The goal marked Doherty's first collegiate goal.

The Terriers tied the game with a power play goal that Cason Hohmann one-timed into an open net at 12:52 of the first period.
