13th-Ranked Men's Hockey Drops 4-1 Decision To Sixth-Ranked Boston University

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Sophomore forward Nathan Gerbe scored a short-handed goal early in the second period to rally 13th-ranked Boston College from a two-goal deficit, but Boston University responded with a goal midway through the third period and sealed the victory with a power-play goal late in the final frame as BC fell to sixth-ranked Boston University, 4-1, before 7,288 fans in Conte Forum.
Junior forward Pete MacArthur scored two first-period goals to give BU an early lead. MacArthur opened the scoring at 9:55, then doubled the BU margin with a power-play goal at 13:37.
Gerbe cut the lead in half just 54 seconds into the middle period with his third short-handed goal of season.
Sophomore Chris Higgins tallied his ninth goal of the season midway through the third period and sophomore Jason Lawrence sealed the win with a power-play goal at 18:01.
The Eagles (13-9-1, 9-7-1 Hockey East) outshot the Terriers, 33-22.
BU senior goalie John Curry made 32 saves to record his 10th win of the season.
Junior goalie Cory Schneider finished with 18 saves for Boston College.
BU (13-4-6, 10-3-5 HE) and BC will conclude the league regular-season series on Friday, Jan. 26 at Agganis Arena. The game is scheduled to face off at 7:30 p.m., and will be broadcast by NESN.
