LOWELL, Mass. -- Five different Boston College players scored, freshman Brian Gibbons netted the game-winning score and goaltender John Muse made 32 saves to lead the 11th-ranked Eagles in a 5-4 Hockey East victory over UMass-Lowell before 5,065 fans in Tsongas Arena.

Gibbons, Benn Ferriero, Tim Filangieri and Joe Whitney all tallied one goal and one assist while Nathan Gerbe and Ben Smith each registered two assists for the visiting Eagles, who have won eight of their last nine games.

Muse made seven saves in the first period, 13 in the second and 12 in the third to earn his 11th win of the season.

UMass-Lowell scored twice in the opening frame and led 2-0 at the period's conclusion.

The visiting Eagles responded in the second period with three consecutive scores in 7 minutes, 1 second to take a 3-2 lead.

Whitney got the Eagles on the scoreboard at 7:05, senior Matt Greene tied the score 9:49 and Filangieri gave the Eagles a temporary one-goal lead on his first score of the season at 14:05.

After UMass-Lowell freshman Kory Falite knotted the game -- at 3-3 -- at 16:45 of the second period, BC scored two times early in the final frame.

Ferriero scored his eight goal of the season just 1:27 into the period and Gibbons concluded the BC scoring at 7:20.

UML's Jeremy Dehner scored with 4.6 seconds remaining in the game for the 5-4 final.

Carter Hutton recorded 27 saves in the losing effort.

The River Hawks out shot BC, 36-32.
