BROOKS ORPIK: born September 26, 1980 ... shoots left ... played his junior and senior seasons at Thayer (Mass.) Academy, after spending his first two years at the Nichols (N.Y.) School ... participated in the USA National Junior Camp in Lake Placid, N.Y. in August 1999; was selected from among the 44 invitees to play in the third annual USA Hockey Summer Challenge (against Finland and Switzerland); Team USA finished with a 3-0-1 record.

AS A SOPHOMORE (1999-2000): Played in 38 games; missed three games while playing with Team USA in the IIHF World Junior Championship in Sweden ? registered 10 points - one goal and nine assists ? netted his only goal in a 6-5 loss at Northeastern (11/12) ? recorded two multiple-assist games; notched two assists in a 7-2 win at Northeastern (3/2) and three assists in the Eagles' first HOCKEY EAST Tournament quarterfinal win over Northeastern (3/10) ? overcame a (left) wrist injury to enjoy what teammate Mike Mottau described as "one of the best games of his career" in the team's 4-1 win over Wisconsin in the NCAA Tournament's quarterfinal round in Minneapolis, MN.

AS A FRESHMAN (1998-99): Played in 41 games; missed the two-game series against Minnesota after sustaining a concussion in practice ... registered 11 points - one goal and 10 assists ... recorded two points in each of two (consecutive) games ... scored the game-winning goal and added one assist in a 5-4 overtime win over UMass-Amherst (2/5) ... tallied two assists in a 6-4 Beanpot win over Harvard (2/8) ... assisted on Blake Bellefeuille's game-winning goal in the Eagles' 5-4 overtime win over New Hampshire in the HOCKEY EAST Tournament championship game (3/20) ... assisted on Jeff Giuliano's game-winning goal against North Dakota in the NCAA Tournament's quarterfinal round in Madison, Wisc.

BEFORE BC: Earned All-New England honors as a senior at Thayer Academy ... was a two-time All-Independent School League selection ... captured 1997-98 Hockey Night in Boston Prep MVP honors ... played for head coach Jack Foley ... participated in USA Hockey's Select 15, 16 and 17 Festivals ... was a member of the US Select 16 Team that competed in the US-Finland Under-17 Series in Vierumaki and Kerava, Finland in August 1996 ... played for Team USA in the World Under-18 Hockey Challenge in Red Deer, Alberta in January 1997.
