Hutchins Earns HOCKEY EAST Player of the Week Accolades
Goaltender McLaughlin Named to Honor Roll
Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Two members of the Boston College hockey
team earned accolades from HOCKEY EAST for their fine play for the week
ending December 14.
Sophomore forward Tony Hutchins (Wolfeboro, N.H./Lawrence Academy)
earned Player of the Week honors for his two-goal performance in the
Eagles' 3-3 overtime tie at Boston University on December 9. It was
Hutchins' second multiple-goal effort this season. After 17 games,
Hutchins is tied for seventh on the team with 11 points (8 goals, 3
assists).
Junior goaltender Andy McLaughlin (Milton, Mass./Milton Academy) was
named to the Honor Roll for his career-high 36-save performance against
Boston University. McLaughlin bested his previous high of 27, set back in
1995-96 against Michigan State. For the season, McLaughlin is 4-0-1 and
has a 2.55 goals against average and an .898 save percentage.
Off to their best start since 1990-91, the Eagles are 11-5-1. Last
week, the Eagles were ranked ninth in the USA TODAY/American College
Magazine Poll. Boston College will resume play on December 27 against
Northern Michigan in the first round of the Bank One Badger Showdown in
Milwaukee, Wis.
