Intrasquad Game to Commence 1997-98 Boston College Hockey Campaign

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The 1997-98 Boston College hockey team will begin preparations for the 1997-98 season with a "Maroon & Gold" intrasquad game on Sunday, October 5 at Kelley Rink. Admission is free. The puck will drop at 4 p.m.

Led by head coach Jerry York (4th season at BC/26th overall), the Eagles expect to compete for the HOCKEY EAST title in 1997-98. Boston College, 15-19-4 last season, return four of their top five scorers from last year's squad.

Leading the way is junior forward Marty Reasoner (Honoeye Falls, N.Y.), who scored a team-high 44 points and was named All-HOCKEY EAST in 1996-97. Along with Reasoner, sophomore Jeff Farkas (Williamsville, N.Y.) and Blake Bellefeuille (Framingham, Mass.) and senior Jamie O'Leary (Needham, Mass.) return at the forward.

On defense, senior Ken Hemenway (Anchorage, Alaska) and junior Brendan Buckley (Needham, Mass.) lead the returnees.

Following the intrasquad game, the Eagles will host the University of Ottawa in an exhibition game on October 11 (7 p.m.). Boston College will open up the regular season at home on October 17 against Bowling Green (7 p.m.).
