Four Boston College Hockey Players Advance From US Junior National Camp

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Four members of the 1996-97 Boston College hockey team were selected from 40 candidates at the US Junior National Evaluation Camp and will compete in a three-game series in Finland from August 6-9.

The BC team members are sophomores Brendan Buckley (defenseman; Needham, Mass.) and Marty Reasoner (forward; Honeoye Falls, N.Y.), and incoming freshmen Jeff Farkas (forward; Williamsville, N.Y.) and Mike Mottau (defenseman; Avon, Mass.).

The players participating in the series in Finland are candidates for the 1997 US National Junior Team that will compete in the World Junior Championship (in Switzerland).

The US Junior Evaluation Camp was held in Lake Placid, N.Y. from July 27-August 3. Twenty-two players from the 40-man camp were chosen to take part in a three-game series in Finland. There they will compete against candidates for Finland's Junior National Team. The games will be held in three cities on August 6 (Valkeala), August 7 (Lahti) and August 9 (Jarvenpaa).

Two other Boston College players -- incoming freshmen Blake Bellefeuille (forward; Framingham, Mass.) and Kevin Caulfield (defenseman; Hyde Park, Mass.) -- also participated in the evaluation camp in Lake Placid.
