ORONO, Maine - Maine forward Adam Shemansky tied the score at 3-3 with 18 seconds left on a 1:46 two-man advantage with 5:01 left in the third period and Matt Mangene connected on a slap shot from the slot at 3:42 of overtime to lift the host Black Bears past third-ranked Boston College, 4-3, before 4,950 fans in Alfond Arena.

Boston College defenseman Brian Dumoulin assisted on each of team's first two goals and netted the go-ahead goal early in the third period while senior goaltender Chris Venti recorded 29 saves to lead the Eagles in the conference loss.

The teams were tied at 1-1 after one period, 2-2 after two periods and 3-3 after three periods.

Sophomore Bill Arnold got visiting BC on the scoreboard early in the contest. The Needham, Mass., native redirected a Kevin Hayes pass past Maine goaltender Dan Sullivan (33 saves) while skating on the team's first power play of the night at 3:20 of the opening period.

Maine responded with consecutive scores - Shemensky's first of the game at 8:52 of the opening period and then a second 2:19 in the middle stanza - to go ahead, 2-1.

BC senior alternate captain Barry Almeida buried a Dumoulin pass with a slap shot from the slot for the team's second power-play goal of the contest at 15:48 of the middle period before Dumoulin gave the Eagles their second lead of the night - at 3-2 - at 4:03 of the final frame.

Shemensky's power-play equalizer was scored at 14:49 of the third period.

The teams will conclude the weekend series - and this season's regular-season series on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 4 p.m. at Alfond Arena. Tomorrow's game will be televised by NESN.

Game Notes: Tonight's game marked the fourth overtime game this season; the team is now 1-2-1 in the those games ... The team last played overtime hockey in a 2-2 home tie against Merrimack (Jan. 8) and last lost in overtime at Notre Dame (Nov. 18) ... BC snapped a three-game scoreless streak on the power play and scored a pair of power-play goals for the sixth time this season - the first time since Dec. 2 against Boston University. It finished with 12 shots on 6:08 of power play time ... Dumoulin matched a career-high with three points. It marked his first three-point night of the season and the fourth of his career.
