Golf Announces NLI Signees for Class of 2018

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Seven student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to play golf at Boston College starting in the fall of 2014, according to an announcement made by head coach Drew Kayser. Three students will be coming in from Connecticut, two from California, one from New Hampshire and one from Massachusetts.

Patrick Albanesi, Connor Creenleaf and Pat Hallisey will be joining the men’s team while Katharine Barrand, Jocelyn Chia, Marissa Grillo and Katelyn Reynolds will tee off with the women.

“Signing period is an exciting time for Boston College Athletics, and specifically for the golf programs,” head coach Drew Kayser said. “We have added four young ladies and 3 young men to the Boston College family, which will definitely help create greater depth on our teams allowing success at higher levels. We are extremely lucky these players have chosen Boston College, and we look forward to having them join us on campus next fall.”

Patrick Albanesi – Avon, Conn. – Avon Old Farms
Named Most Outstanding Player – Varsity in 2012… placed 7th overall on the International Junior Golf Tour… has made honor roll ever semester in high school… member of a men’s chorale group… also plays baseball and squash… will enroll in the Carroll School of Management as a finance major.

Connor Greenleaf – Windham, N.H. – Central Catholic High School
No. 1 ranked junior in NH.... fifth ranked junior for his class in New England... MVC Champion as an individual… Eagle Tribune MVP in 2010 and 2012… 2010 Boston Globe All-Scholastic selection… 2012 and 2013 Division II NH varsity individual champion… 2013 Division II NH varsity team champion… 2013 team captain.. All-State 2010-2012… made match play at U.S. Junior Amateur in 2012… also runs track and plays soccer.

Pat Hallisey – Wethersfield, Conn. – Kingswood Oxford School
2012 and 2013 All-Founders… 2012 and 2013 Founders League Champions and medalist… 2012 and 2013 Mark Dixon Award – KO Golf MVP… member of school choral and a cappella groups.

Katie Barrand – Beverly, Mass. – Governor’s Academy
Won the 2013 Golfweek New England Junior Invitational... All ISL Honors (2012)… Griscom Cup Player (2013)… team captain (2013-14)… Louise Quinzio Coaches Award (2011, 2013), High Honors Student (2011, 2012, & 2014)… also captain of basketball and soccer teams.

Jocelyn Chia – La Crescenta, Calif. – Crescenta Valley High School
75th ranked junior in the US on Junior Golf Scoreboard... All-Area Girls Golfer of the Year (2010, 2011 & 2012)… Pacific League Individual Champion (2011, 2012)… Pacific League Team Co-Champion (2012)… qualified for USGA Women’s Public Links Championship (2012, 2013)… qualified for USGA Girls Championship (2011, 2013)… Scholar Athlete all four years of high school.

Katelyn Reynolds – Los Angeles, Calif. – Notre Dame High School
Won AJGA Aldria Junior All Star – Robinson Ranch (2010)… three-time mission league MVP (2010, 2011 & 2012)… Los Angeles Daily News “Newcomer of the Year” (2010)… All-Area First Team (2011, 2012 & 2013)… Mission League All Academic Team (2010-2013)… 2010 Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All Star Team… four AJGA top 10 finishes… Girls Junior Americas Cup Southern California Team (2010)… USGA Girls Junior Qualifier medalist (2011)… USGA Girls Junior Amateur Championship match play qualifier (2011)… three-time Toyota Tour Cup winner… Notre Dame High School Freshman and Junior Athlete of the Year… three-time WSCGA CIF State Finalist (2010, 2011 & 2013).

Marissa Grillo – Avon, Conn. – Avon High School
No. 1 ranked junior in Connecticut... All-State, First-Team All- NCCC Conference and qualified for New England Championship 9th and 11th… high school team co-captain… runner-up of the FCWT Red Tail Junior Open… won the CT Junior PGA Championship…placed 4th at the PGA Junior Series – Penn State with a personal best of 225 for 54 holes… Saint Anselm College Book Award – given to the student who demonstrates academic success and exceptional leadership qualities… member of the National Honor Society… NCCC Conference Scholar Athlete Award.
