Andre Williams Earns Associated Press All-America honors

Boston College senior running back Andre Williams, a Heisman Trophy finalist and the recipient of the Doak Walker Award given annually to college football's premier running back, has earned Associated Press (AP) All-America first-team honors, according to an announcement made by the organization on Tuesday.

Williams is a 6-foot, 227-pound senior who recorded an ACC-record 2,102 rushing yards on 329 carriers, marking the ninth-best rushing season in the history of college football. He finished the regular season ranked first among all FBS running backs in the country in rushing yards per game (175.2) and broke Boston College's single-season rushing record formerly held by Mike Cloud (1,726; 1998) in 10 games.

Boston College, which finished the season with a 7-5 record, including a 4-4 mark in conference play, will face Pac-12 representative Arizona (7-5, 4-5 Pac-12) in the 2013 AdvoCare V100 Bowl on Tuesday, Dec. 31 at 12:30 p.m. EST at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, La. The Advocare V100 Bowl will mark the first time in the modern era (since 1980 when AP selected two first-team running backs) the AP's All-American running backs face off in a bowl. ESPN will televise the game and Sports USA Radio Network will broadcast the game. The Boston College IMG Sports Radio Network will also carry the game.

The AdvoCare V100 Bowl will mark Boston College's first bowl appearance under the direction of first-year head coach Steve Addazioand caps a remarkable turnaround from last season's 2-10 finish. It marks BC's first bowl appearance in the last three years and its 14th in the last 16 seasons.
