Cleary Named 2012 Scanlan Award Recipient

Dec. 12, 2012

Offensive tackle Emmett Cleary earned Boston College football's highest honor - the Scanlan Award - and junior wide receiver Alex Amidon earned the William J. Flynn Coaches award as Boston College Most Valuable Player to headline the honorees that were presented at an awards dinner last week.

The Thomas F. Scanlan Award is presented to the senior who best exemplifies the ideals of Tom Scanlan; scholar, athlete, gentleman and friend. Cleary, a starter on Boston College's offensive line for the last two-and-a-half years, earned his bachelor's degree in biology last May and is pursuing a master's degree in management from Boston College's Carroll School of Management.

Additionally, senior linebacker Nick Clancy earned the Paul Cavanaugh Award as the Outstanding Defensive Player, junior quarterback Chase Rettig earned the Gridiron Club's Outstanding Offensive Player award and senior defensive back Jim Noel captured the Jay McGillis Scholarship Award.
