Dec. 9, 1999
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College defensive end Chris Hovan (6-3, 290, Rocky River,
Ohio) is among the 25 players on the 1999 Burger King Coaches'
All-America Team, announced Thursday by the American Football Coaches
Association. The award is being presented in ceremonies in Orlando,
Fla., set to be broadcast by ESPN and ESPN2.
The Burger King Coaches' All-America Team is comprised of players
from NCAA Division I-A institutions. The AFCA has selected an
All-America team since 1945 and currently selects teams in all four of
its divisions.
Hovan finished his senior year with 75 tackles (28 solos), 20
tackles-for-loss and a team-high 11 sacks. He was a unanimous
selection for first-team All-BIG EAST, making him the first player in
BC history to receive that honor for three consecutive years.
This marks the second consecutive year BC has placed a member on
the first team. Last year, running back Mike Cloud received the honor.
