Boston College defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Don Brown, who leads a defense that is ranked among the nation's elite in pressuring the quarterback, has been nominated for Broyles Award honoring the top assistant college football coach in America, the Rotary Club of Little Rock (the award's presenter) recently announced.

Brown, whose defense checks in 11th among all FBS teams with 33 sacks in 11 games heading into the regular-season finale at Syracuse (Nov. 30), has been instrumental for a Boston College program that has achieved seven wins and bowl eligibility on the heels of consecutive losing seasons in 2011 (4-8) and 2012 (2-10). The Eagles have already won five more games than last fall's 2012 team heading into the regular-season finale at Syracuse.

The Broyles Award honors the top assistant college football coach in America and was established in 1996. The 2013 Broyles Award winner will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 10. For more information, visit www.BroylesAward.com or search for Broyles Award on Facebook or Twitter.
