CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College football team will face its toughest test at home this season when it hosts No. 25 North Carolina Saturday at noon. The game will be aired live by ESPN2, the BC/ISP Radio Network and ESPN Radio.
Boston College is 6-0 at Alumni Stadium this year and will look to complete its first perfect home season since 2006. It would also mark just the second time since 1985 that the Eagles have gone undefeated in Chestnut Hill.
Saturday will be the toughest home game of the year with a surging North Carolina team coming in. The Tar Heels have won their last three games, at Virginia Tech and at home against Duke and Miami. The UNC defense ranks in the top 15 in the nation in nine different categories and junior QB T.J. Yates is one of the most experienced in the ACC.
"They are a big time football team, there's no question about that," senior LB Mike McLaughlin said. "Obviously, they put a hurting on us last year and I've been watching tape on them. They have some NFL players on their team. We can't come out with anything but our best. I think it is going to be a showdown defensively."
Saturday's game marks the final appearance in Alumni Stadium for the senior class, which includes tri-captains Rich Gunnell, McLaughlin and Matt Tennant. In the last four years, those three have led BC to a 37-14 record, four bowl games and two appearances in the Dr Pepper ACC Championship Game.
"I don't feel any different than any other week from the first game I ever played here," senior SS Marcellus Bowman said. "I know the sooner it gets to game time and the more I start to see the fans and my family for the last time at Alumni Stadium, it will start to hit me. I'm sure there will be a little added motivation there but as of right now, it's just another game."
