Edebali, Westphal Named Eagles of the Week

Nov. 5, 2013

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Senior Kasim Edebali (football) and junior Liv Westphal (cross country) have been named Eagles of the Week for their performances last week.

Edebali recorded seven tackles (five solo), two sacks and two forced fumbles in Boston College's 34-27 win over Virginia Tech. He was directly involved in two Hokie turnovers that led to 10 BC points - a forced fumble that turned into a BC field goal and then a QB hurry that resulted in a Kevin Pierre-Louis 33-yard interception return for a touchdown. Edebali also forced a Logan Thomas fumble with under two minutes to play in the fourth quarter that sealed the win for the Eagles.

Westphal finished in third place out of 140 runners at the ACC Championship last Friday with a time of 20:15 on the 6k course. She improved six places from last year when she finished ninth. Westphal was 10 seconds behind the winner and two seconds behind the second place runner.

The football team (4-4, 2-3 ACC) travels to New Mexico State on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff. Cross country competes in the NCAA Northeast Regional on November 15 in New York City.
