CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College football team will look to get back in the win column when it hosts Central Michigan on Halloween this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The game will be aired on ESPNU and the BC/ISP Radio Network.
The Chippewas enter the game on a seven-game win streak after losing their season opener at Arizona. The streak includes a 29-27 win at Michigan State on September 12. Central Michigan is receiving votes in both polls - earning the 26th-most points in the USA Today poll and the 27th-most in the AP poll.
BC is on an eight-game home winning streak at Alumni Stadium dating back to November 8 of last year. All five of the Eagles' wins in 2009 have come in Chestnut Hill, outscoring their non-conference opponents 88-7 in two wins this season.
Boston College has won the previous two meetings between the programs with a 43-0 shutout victory in 2002 and a 31-24 win at Central Michigan in 2006. CMU's senior quarterback Dan LeFevour was a freshman that season and came off the bench after the starter was knocked out of the game on the second play.
LeFevour went 22-for-37 in the game for 221 yards and two touchdowns while also running for 72 yards and two scores. He is the Chippewas' leading rusher this year, averaging 65.2 yards per game.
"This offense is even trickier than the last couple we have faced," senior DE Alex Albright said. "They have a quarterback who can run. When they have no one in the backfield, you still have to play run. You always have to be thinking about the quarterback and that is just an added stress on the entire defense."
Senior SS Marcellus Bowman, who is second on the team with 41 tackles and 28 solo stops, agreed with Albright that the CMU offense is one of the most dangerous they will face. The Chippewas average more than 33 points per game.
"Once again we have another challenge," he said. "We'll be ready for them. They run a Florida-type offense with a little misdirection with the passing and running but we'll be ready for it. If he is going to run, we have to do what we need to do to stop him. Obviously, he's a threat. We have all seen the stats that he has put up. We are taking him very seriously and we're going to give it everything we have."
