Plasteras, Williams Earn Eagle of the Week Honors

Oct. 8, 2013

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Emma Plasteras (field hockey) and senior Andre Williams (football) were named Eagles of the Week for their performances last week.

Plasteras led the No. 9 Eagles with seven points in non-conference wins over No. 20 New Hampshire and No. 2 Connecticut. She scored the game-winning goals in both games, including one 10 minutes into overtime against UConn to hand the Huskies their first loss of the season. She also scored earlier in the game to break a 1-1 tie. On Friday, Plasteras netted the second goal of the day and assisted on the insurance goal against the Wildcats. Plasteras is tied for second in the ACC in points (30), goals (10) and assists (10), and is tied for first in game-winning goals (4).

Williams rushed 30 times for a career-high 263 yards and tied the school record with five rushing touchdowns in Boston College's 48-27 victory over Army, marking his second 200-plus yard rushing performance of the season. Williams finished one yard shy of tying the BC single-game record for rushing yards (264, Montel Harris, NC State, 2009) and equaled Harris' school-record five TD performance against the Wolfpack. Through five games, Williams leads all FBS running backs in rushing yards per game (153.6). He leads the ACC in rushing attempts (133), rushing yards (768) and rushing yards per game.

The field hockey team (10-2, 1-1 ACC) is in Virginia this weekend taking on the No. 4 Cavaliers on Friday night and Longwood on Sunday. The football team (3-2, 1-1 ACC) travels to No. 3 Clemson on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. contest that will be aired on ABC/ESPN2.
