Eagles Travel To Southern California To Face Trojans
Boston College, fresh off home victories over Villanova in week one and Wake Forest in week two, travels to Los Angeles Coliseum to face Southern California on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 3 p.m. ET (noon PT). The game will be shown live on Pac-12 Networks.
Saturday’s game marks just the fourth meeting between the two institutions and the second in L.A. Memorial Coliseum (the teams previously met in Los Angeles in 1987). BC and USC last squared off in the 2009 Emerald Bowl, a 24-13 Trojan victory.
Boston College is making a rare trip to the state of California this week. The Eagles have played just six times in the Golden State: 1979 at Stanford, 1987 at USC, 2001 at Stanford, 2003 versus Colorado State in the Emerald Bowl, 2009 versus USC in the Emerald Bowl, and 2011 against Nevada in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl.

Eagles Fall To Trojans in Emerald Bowl, 24-13
Montel Harris finished with 102 yards on 23 carries for his fifth straight 100-yard game, but BC struggled to move the ball in the second half. The Eagles had just 19 yards in the third quarter and never mounted a sustained drive in the second half until the game had been decided.
Boston College senior running back Andre Williams has earned Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Back of the Week honors and sophomore Bryce Jones has earned ACC Defensive Back of the Week recognition after stellar performances in Boston College’s 24-10 ACC home victory over Wake Forest on Friday night. Williams rushed 35 times for a career-high 204 yards and one touchdown. Through two games, the senior running back leads the ACC in rushing attempts (58), rushing yards (318) and yards per game (159.0). Williams ranks fourth among all running backs in the nation in rushing yards per game.
Jones, a 6-1, 166-pound sophomore from University Heights, Ohio, finished Friday’s game with two solo tackles, one interception, one pass break up and one fumble recovery. He recovered a quarterback fumble on the Demon Deacons 22-yardline that set up a Chase Rettig-to-Spiffy Evans touchdown pass on the ensuing play that lifted the Eagles to a 17-7 lead in the second quarter, then recorded his second interception in as many games late in the second quarter. Jones’ interception halted a three-play, 35-yard drive that started with 1:56 left in the half.
The Eagles and Trojans – Series History
Saturday’s game between Boston College and Southern California will mark the fourth in the all-time series between the teams. BC and USC played a home-and-home series in 1987-88 and squared off in the 2009 Emerald Bowl in San Francisco, Calif. The Trojans have defeated the Eagles on all three occasions, including a 24-13 decision on Dec. 26, 2009 at AT&T Park in San Francisco. Boston College and Southern California first met on Sept. 19, 1987 at L.A. Memorial Coliseum. The Trojans defeated the Jack Biknell-led Eagles, 23-17. Saturday’s game will mark BC’s second appearance at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum. Following the team’s 5-6 campaign in 1987, BC opened its 1988 season -- and dedicated a rebuilt Alumni Stadium with matching upper decks and state-of-the-art press facilities -- in a nationally-televised game against eighth-ranked Southern California on Sept. 1. The Trojans defeated the Eagles in that game, 34-7.

Boston College will have a bye in week four and will next host Florida State on Sept. 28 inside Alumni Stadium.
