ESPN announced Sunday it would originate its popular "College GameDay Built By The Home Depot" from the BC campus next Saturday, the day of BC's inaugural Atlantic Coast Conference football game vs. the Florida State Seminoles. This will mark College GameDay's first appearance on the BC campus.
"This will be a real treat for all our fans and especially for our students" Director of Athletics Gene DeFilippo said. "All college football fans want GameDay to come to their campus. This is a real tribute to our football team and coaching staff. We're very excited."
The show, which features host Chris Fowler and analysts Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit, airs from 10:30 a.m. until noon each Saturday during the college football season. Fowler, Corso and Herbstreit also will be seen throughout the day on ESPN from Alumni Stadium in various pregame, halftime and postgame segments.
ESPN representatives will conduct a site survey early this week to determine the best location for the show's familiar set; BC officials will announce the location to fans as soon as it is determined.
BC's ACC premier day will begin with an 11 a.m. women's field hockey game vs. Maryland on the Newton campus followed by the football team's highly anticipated 7:45 p.m. prime-time matchup against Florida State on ESPN. Ron Franklin, Bob Davie and Holly Rowe will call the action for ESPN. The Eagles will bring a 2-0 record into Saturday night's game after impressive wins over BYU (20-3 on the road) and Army (44-7 at home).
