Football Completes Final Preseason Scrimmage

The Boston College football team closed its intra-squad scrimmage schedule with its fourth and final session on Wednesday afternoon at a rain-soaked Alumni Stadium.
Sophomore QB Dave Shinskie got the most action under center, going 11-for-24 for 104 yards. Classmate Mike Marscovetra threw for 71 yards on an 8-for-10 outing and true freshman Chase Rettig went 6-for-7 for 50 yards.
True freshmen Bobby Swigert and Tahj Kimble were the leading receivers on the day. Both had four catches while Swigert went for 21 yards and Kimble had 34. Redshirt freshman Johnathan Coleman had three catches for 34 yards while senior Ifeanyi Momah also snagged three passes for 21 yards.
Junior RB Montel Harris carried the ball six times for 46 yards, dominating the first series with five rushes for 40 yards and a touchdown. Redshirt freshman RB Sterlin Phifer had four carries for 28 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown scamper. Kimble had six rushes for 23 yards.
Redshirt freshman K Nate Freese was 1-for-2 on the day, hitting from 48 yards. On his first attempt, the crossbar denied Freese from a distance of 49 yards.
Sophomore LBs Nick Clancy and Luke Kuechly led the defense with 10 tackles apiece. Kuechly also forced a fumble on a run in the backfield. Junior CB Donnie Fletcher recorded nine tackles while sophomore FS Okechukwu Okoroha had six stops. Sophomore DT Conor O'Neal recovered a pair of fumbles.
The Eagles will practice Thursday morning before moving into their fall housing assignments in the afternoon.
