Parker, St. Pierre To Provide Sideline Coverage In 2011-12
Aug. 12, 2011
Boston College Athletics has announced the promotion of Jayme Parker to the role of "Official Athletics Reporter" and the hiring of former Eagle QB standout Brian St. Pierre as the "Official IMG Radio Network Sideline Reporter" for the 2011-12 season.
Parker's new role provides her with expanded responsibilities and duties that incorporate the men's basketball and hockey programs, alongside with her continued reporting from the sideline at both home and away football games. Parker will also produce a four- to five-minute BC Athletics Recap and Review show, promoting positive awareness and exciting news stories and features focused on BC student-athletes and the 31 sports programs.
"As a priority to expand our video content for bceagles.com, and within our social media efforts this upcoming year, we are excited with Jayme's new role to be the official reporter for BC Athletics," said Jamie DiLoreto, Associate Athletics Director for External Operations.
"I'm thrilled with the new opportunity," Parker said. "BC Athletics is making a proactive move to be a leader in creating engaging new content for distribution through various social media outlets. It's the wave of future and I'm glad I can help lead the charge."
Duke Little, General Manager of the Boston College IMG Sports Radio Network talks about the move. "I've have mixed emotions about this," Little said. "Jayme has brought such a tremendous amount of professionalism and passion to our broadcasts over the past six plus years, it will be different without her on the air. However, this new opportunity will provide her greater exposure to the BC Fan base and will be a win-win for everyone, so I think it's a great move. She has such an engaging personality; she'll do wonders to promote BC and will help bring new collegiate sports fans into the BC community."
St. Pierre, an eight-year veteran of the NFL after his exceptional career as an Eagle QB, will be picking up Parker's former duties as the IMG radio network sideline reporter. St. Pierre will provide the listening audience his professional insight and knowledge as he follows the action from the sideline.
"Once my playing days were over, I knew I wanted to get involved in broadcasting," St. Pierre said. "Fortunately for me, Boston College and IMG have afforded me this opportunity. I feel extremely fortunate to have Jon Meterparel and Peter Cronan as broadcast partners every week."
"Getting someone like Brian to cover the sideline for us is a tremendous hire," Little said. "Brian played for BC, won a bowl game vs. No. 16 Georgia, played in the NFL for eight years and has Super Bowl experience while with Arizona Cardinals in 2008. I believe he has what it takes from a game knowledge and credibility standpoint to really enhance our broadcast. The listening audience might as well be in the huddle with the players. Combine Brian's collegiate and professional career with that of our analyst Peter Cronan, and we have an extensive amount of game knowledge on our broadcast team now. I can't wait to hear them break down the action for us."
