Boston College senior Alex Amidon, an all-Atlantic Coast Conference first-team honoree as a junior last fall, has been named to the 2013 Biletnikoff Award preseason watch list, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club announced on Tuesday. The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the outstanding receiver in college football.

Amidon is a 6-foot, 186-pound receiver from Greenfield, Mass., who established single-season school records for receptions (78) and receiving yards (1,210) en route to All-Conference honors in 2012. He finished the season ranked 11th in among all FBS receivers - and second in the ACC - for receiving yards per game (100.8). Additionally, he ranked second among ACC receivers in receptions per game (6.5). Amidon matched former Eagle Brian Brennan's 1983 school record for 100-yard receiving games in a season with six.

Last fall, Amidon earned ACC Receiver of the Week honors after he caught eight passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns in the team's 45-31 loss to No. 17 Clemson (Nov. 29). His receiving yards total marked the most for a BC player since Gerard Phelan had 226 receiving yards against Miami on Nov. 23, 1984 and represented the third-highest receiving total in school history.

Amidon has registered 114 receptions for 1,773 yards (15.6 yards per catch) and 10 touchdowns in 34 career games. He enters his senior campaign ranked 12th on the school's receiving yards list, 686 yards of school-record holder Rich Gunnell's standard of 2,459 yards set between 2006-09.

Boston College is in its first season under the direction of head coach Steve Addazio. The Eagles' season kicks off against Villanova on Saturday, Aug. 31 at noon on ESPNNews. For news and updates on Boston College football, in short form of course, follow @BCFootballNews on Twitter.
