Boston College senior Kevin Pierre-Louis is one of 27 linebackers and 81 defensive players named to the 2013 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Preseason Watch List, according to a joint announcement made Thursday by the Charlotte Touchdown Club and the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA). It marks the second straight season in which Pierre-Louis has been named to the watch list.

The Bronko Nagurski Trophy is presented annually to the national defensive player of the year and was awarded to former Boston College All-America linebacker Luke Kuechly in 2011. The FWAA will choose a Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week each Tuesday throughout the season. If not already on the watch list, the honored player will be added at that time. The FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club will announce five finalists for the 2013 Bronko Nagurski Trophy on Nov. 21.

Pierre-Louis is a 6-foot-1, 215-pound product of Norwalk, Conn., and the King Low Heywood Thomas school who has started 31 games in three seasons at Boston College. He has registered 252 career tackles, including 145 solo tackles and 14 tackles for loss.

Last fall, Pierre-Louis earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference honorable mention honors after recording 85 tackles in nine games (9.0 tackles per game). He finished the season ranked seventh among all ACC players in tackles per game. A 2013 All-ACC preseason first-team honoree by Phil Steele, Pierre-Louis earned Rivals.com Freshman All-America honors after finishing his true freshman season in 2010 ranked second on the team with 93 tackles. He recorded 74 tackles as sophomore in 2011.

Boston College is in its first season under the direction of head coach Steve Addazio. The Eagles' season kicks off against Villanova on Saturday, Aug. 31 at noon on ESPN3. For news and updates on Boston College football, in short form of course, follow @BCFootballNews on Twitter.
