Former Great Luke Kuechly Nominated for ESPY

Former BC football great Luke Kuechly is nominated for Best NFL Player after earning the 2013 AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year award. He broke the NFL record for most tackles in a game with 26 against the New Orleans Saints and was fourth in the league with 156 total tackles.
The winners of the 2014 ESPYs will be broadcast live on ESPN on Wednesday, July 16, following a nationwide fan vote on ESPN.com. Fans can vote for Kuechly here.
Kuechly left the Heights as one of the most decorated defensive players in college football history, finishing his collegiate career with a school-record 532 tackles, including 299 solo tackles, in 38 games. He ranks among the NCAA career leaders in several defensive statistical categories, including second in career total tackles (532) and first in career total tackles per game (14.0). He twice captured the NCAA statistical championship in both tackles per game (14.1 in 2010 and 15.9 in 2011) and solo tackles per game (8.5 in 2010 and 8.5 in 2011) and he recorded at least 10 tackles in 34 of 38 career games, including a streak of 33 straight games.
In his final season at BC he earned the Bronko Nagurski Trophy as the national defensive player of the year, the Butkus Award given to the nation's most outstanding linebacker, the Rotary Lombardi Award as the nation's lineman or inside linebacker of the year, the Lott Impact Trophy given to the defensive player of the year and was a consensus All-American.
