Paul Zukauskas, an All-American offensive guard at Boston College last fall, was selected in the seventh round of the National Football League Draft on Sunday. He was the third pick of the seventh round and the 203rd overall selection. He was the only BC player taken in the seven-round draft, however a number of BC seniors are expected to sign NFL free agent contracts in the next several days.
The Brown are led by first-year head coach Butch Davis, the former University of Miami coach who saw Zukauskas' play first hand for the past four years.
Zukauskas earned first team All-America honors from the American Football Coaches Associationin 2000 and earned second team All-America honors from the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
Zukauskas was one of three tri-captains on the 2000 Eagles team and led the squad to a 7-5 record, including a 31-17 win over Arizona State in the Jeep Aloha Bowl.
