St. Pierre Leads Maroon To Victory Over White

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Quarterback Brian St. Pierre, who will be a junior in the fall, was 17 of 30 in the air for 191 yards and one touchdown as he led the Maroon team to a 21-7 win over the White team in the 2001 Jay McGillis Memorial Spring Game at Boston College. The game marked the end of spring football practice for the Eagles.
Cornerback Peter Shean, who will be a redshirt freshman in the fall, opened the scoring for the Maroon when he intercepted a Kevin Kiley pass and returned it 19 yards for a touchdown to make it 7-0 Maroon. St. Pierre hooked up with wide receiver Dedrick Dewalt on the final play of the first quarter for a 54-yard touchdown pass that made it 14-0 at the half.
The White team scored its only touchdown of the day as Kiley, who will be a sophomore in the fall, connected with senior-to-be DuJuan Daniels on a 19-yard pass for a TD with 8:53 left in the third quarter. The final score of the day came for the Maroon team when running back Greg Toal, who will be a sophomore in the fall, scored on a one-yard run with 29 seconds left in the game.
Toal was the leading rusher on the day with nine carries for 35 yards for the Maroon, while 2001 all-BIG EAST back William Green had 17 carries for 14 yards. Green also had two receptions.
Ryan Read, who will be a senior in the fall, was the leading receiver for the Maroon with five receptions for 40 yards while Dewalt had four receptions for 121 yards.
On the White team, sophomore-to-be Derrick Knight was the leading rusher with 17 carries for 44 yards while Daniels had three receptions for 36 yards.
Boston College opens the 2001 season at home on Sept. 1 against BIG EAST opponent West Virginia.
