CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College football hosted its second of three intrasquad scrimmages of the 2012 spring season on Saturday afternoon inside the Alumni Stadium bubble. Here are a few notes from the afternoon's scrimmage:
Sophomore quarterback Chase Rettig finished the day 12-for-23 with two touchdowns. His first scoring toss was to sophomore wide receiver Alex Amidon for 60 yards. His second was to freshman Spiffy Evans for 35 yards.
Rettig started the scrimmage by connecting on seven of his first eight passes.
Amidon's touchdown catch came on the left side of the field. He broke one tackle and then beat the defense to the end zone.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Josh Bordner went 8-for-10 on the day with a touchdown.
His touchdown went to junior wide receiver Donte Elliott for 40 yards.
Senior wide receiver Joe LaCorte, Jr., from Garden City, N.Y., caught a game-best six passes.
Amidon and Evans both had four catches.
Three different running backs (sophomore Rolandan Finch, redshirt freshman Tahj Kimble, sophomore Andre Williams) recorded touchdowns. Finch scored twice.
Kimble broke free on the second play from scrimmage and would have ran for a 70-yard touchdown, but stepped out of bounds near midfield.
Junior tight end Chris Pantale caught a tough 44-yard pass after a Nick Clancy deflection and ran it to the one-yard line.
Redshirt freshman defensive back
James McCaffrey recorded the defense's first interception of the two scrimmages.
Redshirt freshman defensive lineman Dominic Appiah and sophomore defensive end Kasim Edebali knocked down passes at the line of scrimmage during the same series.
Freshman defensive end Mehdi Abdesmad, redshirt freshman Matt Murphy and freshman defensive lineman Connor Wujciak all had sacks.
BC will host its annual spring game on Saturday, March 31 at 1 p.m.
