CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Penn State University announced on Monday that Al
Golden, a member of the BC football coaching staff for the
past three seasons, has been named linebackers coach for
the Nittany Lions.
Golden was a three-year football letterman and

graduation, he spent one season with the New England
Patriots before getting his coaching start at Red Bank,
N.J., Catholic High School. He moved to the University of
Virginia as a graduate assistant in 1994. He joined former
Virginia assistant Tom O'Brien on the BC staff when O'Brien
was appointed the Eagles' head coach in 1997.
"We wish Al nothing but the best as he returns to
his Alma Mater," O'Brien says. "He has been a very valuable
part of our staff for the past three years and he has a
bright future ahead."
O'Brien indicated he will begin the search for a
replacement immediately.
