Returns for his fifth-year and brings experience to the Eagle offense...has started 20 career games for the Eagles at that position...has played tight end, fullback and linebacker during his career.

In his first full season as a fullback, Utzler played in and started 10 games...was perhaps the biggest surprise on offense that season…caught two passes for seven yards...had one reception for four yards against Rutgers...made one catch for three yards against Temple…coaching staff moved him to fullback from tight end (and linebacker).
Earned all-state and all-conference honors as a junior and senior tight end/inside linebacker at Fairfield Prep...gained all-east recognition from PrepStar magazine and Tom Lemming’s Prep Football Report...made 79 receptions for 1,012 yards and scored eight touchdowns in his three years at Fairfield Prep; made a single-season high 41 catches as a junior...played his three years for head coach Rich Magdon; spent his freshman year playing for Tim Feshler at Avon (Conn.) High School...also a four-year starter on the baseball team; started in left field at Avon and at first base at Fairfield Prep.
Ryan Robert Utzler, born Oct. 20, 1978...graduated from the College of Arts & Sciences with a major in marketing and is now working on a Master’s of Business Administration...is the recipient of the Orrie Scarminach ’71 Memorial Athletic Scolarship this year at Boston College…was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio...a fine student who earned New Haven County Scholar-Athlete and Army Reserve Scholar-Athlete recognition....a magna cum laude graduate... Ryan and his younger sister Sarah are the children of Julie and Robert Utzler.
