December 3, 2000
Watertown, MASS. - Continuing their busy schedule of fencing this weekend, both the men's and women's teams competed today at the Boston Fencing Club in order to qualify for the Under-20 Junior Olympic Championships. These events are the national fencing championships for the under-20 and under-17 age groups. They are going to be held on February 16, 2001, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Sophomore Kate Boyle and Freshman Paul Taylor qualified for the Junior Olympic Championships as a result of their performances today. Boyle placed fifth out of fifteen competitors in women's epee while Taylor placed seventh out of twenty-three in men's foil. Two other BC fencers, Sophomore epeeist Dave Moyston and Freshman Jessica Peakes, competing in sabre, are automatic qualifiers because of their national point standings.
The Eagles will be hosting their next scheduled commitment on January 27, 2001, in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. Brandeis, Brown, BU, Dartmouth, Harvard, and MIT will also be present at the event.
