Men's Fencing Defeats Brandeis, Women Drop Close Match to MIT

Waltham, MASS. - The men's andwomen's teams competed in their second dual meet of the season today at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. MIT, Brown, Vassar, Brown, Brandeis, and St. John's participated along with the Eagles in the tournament.
The men went 4-1, losing only to number-two-in the nation St. John's. Today marked the first time that BC has beaten Brandeis University in dual meet competition. The win was a decisive 18-9, powered by an epee squad that went undefeated in nine bouts against the Judges. Senior Jeff Marston was 10-5 for the day, leading the men's team. The men's dual meet record stands at 6-2.
The women's fencing team picked up two wins against Brandeis and Vassar, but dropped a close one to MIT. The team also lost to St. John's. Senior foilist Michelle Guevara had an outstanding day, going 11-3, including a 2-1record against St. John's. Sophomore Kate Boyle went 11-3 in epee. Guevara and Boyle led the women's team on the day. The women's dual meet record stands at 5-4.
Both the men's and women's teams will be present at the Boston Fencing Club tomorrow in Watertown, Massachusetts, where the Under-20 Junior Olympic Qualifiers will be held.
