Fencing Hosts Northeastern Conference Meet

Chestnut Hill, MASS. - Boston College Fencing hosted the Northeastern Fencing Conference Meet today in the William J. Flynn Recreational Complex. Also present at the event were teams representing Brandeis, Brown, Dartmouth, Harvard, MIT, and Boston University.
The men's team went 3-2 on the day in dual meet competition. They defeated Brandeis by a tally of 19-10, Dartmouth 18-9, and MIT 16-11. They were defeated by Brown 14-13 and by Harvard 15-12. Following the meet, the men's dual meet record stands at 9-4.
Fencing particularly well for the men's team was freshman Paul Taylor of the foil squad. Taylor went 12-3 on the day, going undefeated with three wins against both Dartmouth and Harvard. Freshman teammate Corban Rhodes also fenced well. Rhodes went 7-5 on the day, including 3 wins against Brown University. On the epee squad, senior Zakee Howard went 3-0 against Brandeis, Brown, and MIT to finish with a 10-2 record on the day.
Boston College's women's team won three and lost three on the day. They were victorious against Brandeis 15-12, BU 22-5, and Dartmouth 22-5. The team fell to Brown 14-13, Harvard 25-2 and MIT 18-9. Sophomore epeeist Kate Boyle went 10-4 on the day, while teammate Regina Lennox tallied an 11-3 record on the day, highlighting the performance by the women's team.
This coming weekend, February 3-4th, both teams will be competing at MIT in dual meet competition. Duke, UNC, Yeshiva, UPenn and Cornell will be present at the meet. Also, Boston College will host NYU on Saturday, February 3rd, in the Flynn Recreational Complex.
