Men's Basketball Announces 2013-14 Captains

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Ryan Anderson and sophomore Joe Rahon will serve as the captains of the 2013-14 men's basketball team.

Anderson was an All-ACC Third Team performer last season after averaging 14.9 points and 8.0 rebounds a game. He ranked fourth in the conference in rebounding and free throw attempts, eighth in scoring, and ninth in field goal percentage. The Lakewood, Calif., resident also ranked sixth in the ACC with eight double-doubles. He led the Eagles in rebounding and was second in scoring.

Rahon was one of two players to start all 33 games last year. He averaged 10.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. He led the Eagles in minutes (35.6) and assists, was second in steals (33), third in points and fourth in rebounds. Rahon ranked third in the ACC in minutes, seventh in assists and eighth in assist/turnover ratio (1.8). The San Diego, Calif., product ranked second among all ACC freshmen in assists and fifth in points.

It marks the second time in program history that two players from California will serve as captains. Jared Dudley (San Diego) and Sean Marshall (Rialto) were the captains of the 2006-07 team.

Boston College began practice on September 30 and opens the season on November 8 at Providence. The Eagles return over 95 percent of its production from last season in every statistical category (minutes, points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks). Each of those numbers returning leads the ACC.
