CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College Athletics Department, in conjunction with the Undergraduate Student Government of Boston College (UGBC), has announced plans for the first-ever ICE JAM to be held in Conte Forum on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 8 p.m.

Four Boston College teams, the men's and women's basketball teams, the women's ice hockey team and the defending national champion men's ice hockey team will participate in this one-of-a-kind event.

"Planning for this event has been underway for months and we are excited to see it become a reality," UGBC executive manager of campus entertainment Justin Robinson said. "ICE JAM has the opportunity to become an annual event that other schools try to emulate. This is going to be special."

Conte Forum will be transformed with the ice exposed on one half of the arena and a basketball court on the other so that each team will be able to participate in their natural environment. Legendary sports commentator Bob Costas will serve as celebrity emcee and will lead the players and coaches from all four teams through a series of events and contests that will display their many talents while allowing fans to interact with them.

"We are very excited to bring college basketball and hockey fans together inside of Conte Forum to experience an event like no other," Director of Athletics Gene DeFilippo said. "This will be a great opportunity for the students, alumni and fans of Boston College to get to know our players and coaches on a more personal level and to get them excited for another action packed winter season."

Special guest appearances and acts will round out the entertainment while various Boston College corporate sponsors will be on hand sampling products and providing giveaways throughout the evening. In addition, a new lighting and shade system, allowing the Conte Forum lights to be turned off and on in a matter of seconds, will be unveiled.

Admission for ICE JAM is FREE.
