Boston College will play Baylor in the first game of the 2012 Charleston Classic presented by Foster Grant. The announcement was made by ESPN today.
The Eagles and Bears will play on Thursday, November 15 at 3pm in the TD Arena in Charleston, South Carolina. The game will be shown on ESPNU.
Baylor finished the 2011-12 season with a 30-8 record, including a 12-6 mark in the Big 12. The Bears made it to the Big 12 Tournament Championship game and then advanced to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament before losing to eventual national champion Kentucky.
Colorado and Dayton will meet in the other game on BC’s half of the bracket. St. John’s will play College of Charleston and Murray State will meet Auburn on the other half of the classic’s bracket.
The 2012 Charleston Classic will feature 12 games through three days – Nov. 15, 16, and 18. The tournament features four games each day. Each team will compete in one game per day, advancing through a bracket-tournament format. The two teams that remain undefeated throughout will face off in the championship game on Sunday, Nov. 18.
Boston College returns four starters from last season’s team that finished with a 9-22 record (4-12 ACC). The Eagles will be led by ACC All-Rookie Team selection Ryan Anderson who led the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 11.2 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per game.
