Hanlan Named To Canadian Development National Team Training Camp Roster

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Freshman Olivier Hanlan has been named to the Canadian Development National Team training camp roster that will compete in the 27th Summer Universiade next month.

Hanlan was one of two freshmen that earned a spot on the team along with Columbia's Grant Mullins.

The 16 student-athletes will be led by Canada's Senior Men's National Team head coach, Jay Triano. The team will head overseas to play an exhibition series in China before taking part in the Summer Universiade that will be held from July 6-17 in Kazan, Russia.

Hanlan emerged as one of the top freshmen in the country last season. He earned ACC Freshman of the Year honors after averaging 15.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. The Aylmer, Quebec product ranked fifth in the ACC in scoring and reached double figures in all but five games.

The rest of the team consists of Mangisto Arop (Indiana State), Jordan Bachynski (Arizona State), Murphy Burnatowski (Colgate), Justin Edwards (Maine), Melvin Ejim (Iowa State), Brady Heslip (Baylor), Owen Klassen (Carleton), Daniel Mullings (New Mexico State), Grant Mullins (Columbia), Kevin Pangos (Gonzaga), Dwight Powell (Stanford), Laurent Rivard (Harvard), Philip Scrubb (Carleton), Thomas Scrubb (Carleton) and Kyle Wiltjer (Kentucky).

The 2013 Summer Universiade, also called the World University Games, is the only summer multi-sport event in the world that connects students at both academic and athletic levels. More than 9,000 student athletes from over 170 countries will compete in the event.
